St. Mary’s of Barnegat and St. Mary’s of the Pines celebrate the year of its 75th anniversary.
It all started from simple surroundings with the first Mass celebrated in 1907 within the area at the home of Thomas Galvin a devote Irish Catholic. It then became a mission church of St. Thomas Aquinas of Long Beach Island. In due time the church services were held in the small, white, quaint church on W. Bay Ave.
From these humble beginnings as St. Mary’s celebrates its 75 years of service to the community, let us remember the words of St. Paul, 1Corinthians, Chapter 13; 4 – 7, 13.

Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.
There are three things that remain – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.
